Over the past 17 years, The American Red Cross Upstate South Carolina Fine Wine Auction “An Affair with Flair” has been a growing success. Our evolution from one committee to six, from no wine makers to 15, and from 250 guests to over 500 is a testament to the caring and generosity of Greenville. Because of the success of the event over the years, we have had the opportunity to change venues to accommodate the growing guest list. We have moved from the Hilton, to the Westin Poinsett, to the Hyatt Regency Greenville, and our continued growth gives us yet another opportunity for change in 2011. We are excited to announce that the 2011 Fine Wine Auction will be held at the Peace Center for the Performing Arts.
On Saturday, January 29, 2011, our event will take full advantage of the Peace Center’s beautiful spaces. The fine wine auction and dinner will be held on the Peace Center stage, our reception table will be displayed in the Concert Hall Lobby, and the wine tasting and silent auction will be showcased in the Peace Center Loft directly behind the stage. Guests will receive royal treatment while enjoying a sumptuous dinner while enjoying live entertainment. As diners look out onto a new stage in the center of the audience seats, our auctioneer will engage them in the live auction. We are certain this grand venue change will create an evening to remember, both for our guests and the American Red Cross of Upstate South Carolina.

2010 Wine Auction a Great Success! |

 On Saturday January 23, 2010 the American Red Cross “An Affair with Flair” Fine Wine Auction festivities began at 6 p.m at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville. There was Brazilian music performed by Pat’s Seventeen Piece Swing Band that created excitement for a magnificent parade of 600 beautiful people at the themed Rio Carnival in Greenville SC. It was an evening to remember, meeting ten wine celebrities while tasting a selection of their exceptional wines during the silent auction.
The guests also enjoy the themed gala seated dinner and live auction at the Copacabana Palace the most famous and luxurious hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The live auction was an amazing, bids were high, and packages were doubled resulting in two times the dollars. Betty Jackson, Director of Development said “the 17th American Red Cross Fine Wine Auction was our largest and most successful ever! Our guests were there for all the right reasons.” Over $300,000 was raised to provide food, clothing, shelter and medications to fire victims and to help train volunteers to respond to disasters and other emergencies.</p> |
An Affair With Flair - 2010 Fine Wine Auction
The American Red Cross of Upstate South Carolina presents the 2010 Fine Wine Auction.
This invitation only, Formal/Black Tie event will be held on January 23rd, 2010, at 6:00PM at the Hyatt Regency Greenville. The theme for this years event is Rio Carnival.
Wine tasting and a silent auction will precede a seated dinner and live auction. Following the live auction, there will be dancing and cocktails. All proceeds benefit Upstate Red Cross programs and services, with the 2009 event raising $260,000.

2009 Success Story
THE FINE WINE AUCTION "AN AFFAIR WITH FLAIR" WAS ANOTHER SUCCESS STORY!
On behalf of the Upstate South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross Fine Wine Auction "An Affair with Flair" we thank you. It was our best year in beautiful downtown Greenville South Carolina. A city with all the right ingredients for a success story, fine restaurants, talented chefs, wine sommeliers, wine shops, private wine cellars, and strong Red Cross supporters that create one jewel box filled with incredible people.
This year, we are delighted to report that the American Red Cross Fine Wine Auction raised $260,000 for Red Cross programs and services. The American Red Cross Fine Wine Auction was established in 1993 and has raised needed funds for 16 years to advance the mission of the Red Cross and provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
We have been fortunate to host wine lovers from both near and far, bidders who have helped shape the Auction as the premier charity wine auction in South Carolina. Again, we thank you for your support!
