Over the past 18 years, The American Red Cross Western Carolinas Fine Wine Auction "An Affair with Flair" has been a growing success. Our evolution from one committee to six, from no wine makers to 15, and from 250 guests to over 500 is a testament to the caring and generosity of Greenville. Because of the success of the event over the years, we have had the opportunity to change venues to accommodate the growing guest list. We have moved from the Hilton, to the Westin Poinsett, to the Hyatt Regency Greenville, and the Peace Center for the Performing Arts. We are excited to announce that the 2012 Fine Wine Auction will return to the newly renovated Hyatt regency Greenville, and will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2012.

The event began with the Thomas Arvid Artist and Wine Dinner at Devereaux's. Following the Artist and Wine Dinner were the Thursday Night Dinners highlighting the visiting wine makers. And oh the Friday Night Dinners especially held for our sponsors at restaurants and in the beautiful homes a true success all sponsors and their guests were very happy. Saturday began with the Inaugural Wine Tasting at Northampton Wine’s featuring ten wineries and success was the continuing theme each step of the way.

The 2011 Black Tie Gala was truly a magical evening from beginning to end, filling the Peace Center with lots and lots of flair and beautiful people. The silent auction proved to be amazing with more room for our guests to enjoy the fun from the wine tasting, wine makers, silent auction items, to the sparkling rings that everyone received when they made a bid. One guest had rings on every finger and actually made a necklace.

There was nothing to prepare our guests for what would follow the silent auction. As the guests walked onto the stage it was truly unbelievable how the Peace Center stage was transformed into an artful illuminated enchanted “An Affair with Flair” Fine wine Auction. Every aspect of the event was filled with charm and luxury beyond imagination. As the guests were seated for dinner and live auction, the lights went down, and four segments of entertainment were presented. Following the entertainment, dinner was served and the live auction began.
